Follow the user manual to install ComMarker Studio and connect the engraver to your computer. Remove the lens cap. Power on the engraver.
Note:
To avoid interruptions during engraving, disable your computer’s sleep settings or make sure it remains active until the process is complete.
1. Click the “3D Relief” module, then import your STL file through “Set up”.

STL file
STL is a 3D file format used for modeling and printing. You can find good STL files on various 3D model community websites.
If you start from a 2D image, you’ll need to convert it into an STL file. You can use the online tools we listed in the Appendix below.
Please note that not all images are suitable for conversion.
2. Choose a Frame setting based on your design, adjust the frame size with the right block to enclose your design within the frame.
Use Move and Rotate to adjust the coordinates.
3. Import the settings based on your material.
Click Advanced paraments to import Filling density.
Note:
Number of Layers controls how many passes the laser makes along the Z-axis. More layers produce smoother, more detailed reliefs but increase engraving time; too many layers may stretch shallow details vertically.
Unlike CNC machines with fixed cutting depth, laser engraving removes material differently depending on the material and parameters.
Compared with traditional grayscale engraving that requires manual focus adjustment, this system automatically adjusts the laser along the Z-axis based on the 3D model to achieve true layered relief.
Recommendation: Layer settings may vary by material. We recommend starting with 40 layers and fine-tuning as needed.

4. Lift the safety door and place your material on the work platform.
Ensure the red sensor dot lands on the surface of the material.
Note:
If your material is transparent, place a sheet of paper on top so the red dot can focus on the surface.
To protect the work platform, place a flat, opaque backing board beneath your material before focusing.
Optional accessories such as Cutting Panels or Metal Sheet Holders are available Here↗
5. Click Focus to automatically focus the laser on the material surface
6. Click Preview and place the preview helper on your material to display the engraving frame.
Note:
Ensure that the engraving area is clear and precise before proceeding.
If you want to adjust the size, you can stop the Preview, adjust the Scale slider in Marking Model Size and preview again to check if the new size meets your requirements.
7. Once the preview is confirmed, remove the preview helper and close the safety door.
Click Start to begin engraving.
Note:
The Deflecting process before engraving may take several minutes. Please do not exit or interrupt the process during this time.
8. After engraving, wait for the laser to stop.
Then remove your workpiece and clean the platform to keep it free from dirt.
